1. Why did you choose to start your own publishing company?

You mean besides the fact that I love comic books. I've always been a do it yourself kind of man, and I felt no one will let me tell stories the way I want to other than me. I wanted to tell stories that I felt were relevant to me or add what I felt was missing in the stories that I read.

2. What comics do your currently publish?

I currently publish 2 titles, the first is the Stormchasers, it is a team book along the lines of Justice league & the Avengers, but with an international cast. Like I said earlier I want to add to what I felt was missing in the stories that I read, and you figure a team book with global adventures would have a more diverse cast, and that is what I'm doing here. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel or anything, just put more faces of the world in an action adventure super team book that has earth shattering adventures.

The second book, Dragonstorm just made a successful debut at the New York comic con. It is the story of a hero who is forced to raise the granddaughter of his greatest enemy, but when you boil it all down it is the story of a man who is not ready to be a father and a girl who is not looking for a new one, wrapped up in this superhero action adventure story.

3. How long have you been in business?

I officially started hitting bumps in the road in of May 2008. I say this because while I had ideas and designs long before this, I did not officially make the leap in putting a book or a team together until this time, and realized quickly that I knew nothing. I mean I still don't, don't get me wrong I know more than I did when I started, but I am constantly learning new things, and applying that to Unstoppable Comics in an effort to put out a better product each and every time.

4. Is your company currently taking submissions or proposals?

At the moment Unstoppable Comics is not looking at new proposals, we pretty much have a full plate with The Stormchasers, and Dragonstorm, and possibly one other project later on down the road.

5. Is your company currently looking for new talent?

Unstoppable Comics is always willing to look at new talent, for future consideration. Even though there is a solid team in place with Beni Olea illustrating The Stormchasers & Joel Cotejar on Dragonstorm, as well as ICCW members Alex Rivera and Michael Summers handling inks and colors on both books, we found room for Patrick O'Donnell to handle the cover to the next issue of Dragonstorm. These are a great and talented group of guys, I can't say enough about them, but they have personal lives and do get busy from time to time, and you never know when you'll need a fill in or something like a pin up down the road, so it's good to network and know other people out there.

6. Does your company have a website?

Yes it does. You can go to www.unstoppablecomics.com, to find copies of The Stormchasers, or Dragonstorm, if they are not located in your local shop, or download them directly if you don't want to wait for the mail. At unstoppablecomics.com you will also find T shirts, posters, glassware and pretty soon even action figures.

7. What conventions do you typically attend?

The 1st convention Unstoppable Comics attended was the NYCC this past October. We have already locked up a small press booth at the C2E2, in Chicago in March, and we will be in Boston in April, with other smaller cons in the eastern seaboard peppered through out the year. As for the west coast Unstoppable Comics is really trying to make the SDCC in July.

8. What are your future plans for you company?

Well first off we have Stormchasers #4 coming out in December with the next issue of Dragonstorm coming in January. I would like to get The Stormchasers, and Dragonstorm, locked into a monthly schedule, but as of right now each title will be coming out on alternating months. Once The Stormchasers, and Dragonstorm, are on a steady production stream, Unstoppable comics plans on doing a series of one shots, spotlighting individual characters in the Unstoppable Universe. Aside from publishing, Unstoppable comics has dived into the action figure market with Slayer Design Studios, and is developing a Dragonstorm action figure. A picture of an early prototype was shown here on The ICCW blog, and version 2 pics should be coming shortly. If that sells well, then we'll continue to develop more characters in the Unstoppable Universe.

9. What keeps you motivated to do what you do.

Success and spite are 2 of my strongest motivators. Each time I hit a goal that I've set makes me say I can do more, makes me want to do more. You know I put out Stormchasers #1 and it was like wow, what's next. Then I went store to store in the New York area working to get it on shelves, some places bought some places didn't, and from that I learned what worked and what didn't. Then I followed up and saw they sold so I went to the next step, each achievement made me hungrier and drove me to accomplish my next goal.

Don't get me wrong, not everything was fine and dandy, there where a lot of shots I took to the gut especially from critics, but that made me work even harder to prove them wrong on the next book. The ultimate vindication though was at NYCC, where people were coming up buying Unstoppable Comics books and merchandise. When you have someone walking away from you with a smile on their face, holding something you created or wearing one of your T-Shirts saying how cool it is, is the ultimate driving force. I wish I could bottle that, because there is no price you can put on positive interaction like that.

10. What do you do differently as a publisher that you think helps to set you apart form the rest of the tide?

I finally understand that this is not a one man show, and can't do everything by myself. I need to bring people aboard that have experience, know what they are talking about, and shut my mouth and listen when they are talking. The second I got involved with SJS promotions I took a big leap in the right direction. I was able to take that hat off my head, let them run with promoting Unstoppable Comics, which in turn gave me more time to focus on other areas that were lacking, because I did not have enough time in the day to get to them, which in turn leads to producing better products at Unstoppable Comics.
